What length LED whips should I buy for my RZR, X3, Ranger or other UTV?

For most UTV and SXS setups, 2ft whips are our one-size-fits-most recommendation. They provide plenty of visibility without adding excessive height. If you want more presence and height, 3ft whips are a great option. Riders who spend a lot of time in tight wooded trails may prefer shorter whips.

What's the difference between Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and HD Cyclones?

The biggest differences are brightness, LED density, pattern detail and price. Level 1 is our budget-friendly option. Level 2 steps up the brightness and pattern detail. Level 3 is our best all-around recommendation and one of our most popular choices. HD packs in even more LEDs for customers who want maximum brightness.

What's the difference between Cyclones and Big Woody whips?

Cyclones use a slimmer, flexible tube and are available in several lengths and performance levels. Big Woody whips use a much larger 2-inch-diameter tube, giving them a completely different look and a much larger illuminated surface. Big Woodys are rigid rather than flexible and are designed for riders who want their lighting setup to really stand out.

What is the Big Woody X?

Big Woody X is our premium Big Woody platform. It uses RGBW LEDs for a true dedicated white channel, extremely bright output and an advanced Bluetooth controller. The controller includes a large library of built-in effects and also allows you to design your own patterns and animations.

Can I order custom-length LED whips?

Yes. Because we build our whips in-house, custom lengths are possible for many applications. We've built everything from short custom whips to very tall specialty setups. If you have something unusual in mind, contact us and tell us what you're building.

Do Woody's Lights LED whips change colors and run patterns?

Yes. Our standard programmable LED whips offer multiple colors and hundreds of patterns and effects. Different product families use different controllers, so the exact effects and control options depend on the whips you choose.

What's the difference between RGB and RGBW?

RGB LEDs create colors using red, green and blue channels. RGBW adds a dedicated white channel. That dedicated white LED can produce a cleaner, brighter true white instead of creating white by mixing red, green and blue together.

RGBW is used in products such as Big Woody X and our RGBW rock lights.

Do I control the whips with a remote or my phone?

It depends on the product and controller. Our traditional Cyclone setups include a handheld remote. Products using our Bluetooth controllers can also offer app-based control. Big Woody X uses an advanced Bluetooth app that gives you significantly more control over colors, animations and custom patterns.

Can someone else's remote control my whips?

If you're around other riders using similar controllers, it can happen until the remote is paired specifically to your controller. On compatible Woody's Lights controllers, press and hold the lock button for approximately 6-7 seconds to bind the remote to your whips.

Can my rock lights and LED whips run together?

In some setups, yes, but compatibility depends on the LEDs and controllers being used. Don't assume two RGB or RGBW products will automatically sync just because they can display the same colors. Contact us with the products you have and we'll help determine the best way to set them up.

What comes with a pair of Woody's Lights LED whips?

Most standard whip pairs include the quick-release mounts, controller, handheld remote, Y-splitter and power wiring needed for the whip system itself. Exact components can vary by product, so check the individual product listing for the package you're purchasing.

Do I need a relay and fuse for my LED whips?

We recommend properly fusing your lighting circuit, and higher-current setups should be powered through an appropriately sized relay rather than putting the full electrical load through a small dash switch. The correct fuse and wiring depend on the product you're installing.

Do Woody's Lights whips require a voltage converter?

Some do and some don't. It depends on the LED technology used in that particular whip. For example, Level 3 Cyclones operate directly from 12V and do not require a separate voltage converter. Other systems may use a converter as part of their setup.

If you're unsure, follow the wiring instructions supplied for your specific product or contact us before connecting power.

Can I run only one whip instead of a pair?

Yes. Many Woody's Lights systems can be operated with a single whip. If you're building a single-whip setup from scratch, contact us and we'll help make sure you get the correct components.

Is installing LED whips difficult?

For most UTVs and ATVs, installation is pretty straightforward: mount the whips, route the wiring safely, connect the controller and provide properly fused power. The biggest differences from machine to machine are where you mount the whips and where you pick up accessory power.

Are Woody's Lights LED whips waterproof?

Our whips are built for the mud, water, dust and abuse that come with off-road riding. Connections and controllers should still be installed and protected according to their instructions. If you routinely bury your machine in water, give the electrical components the same consideration you would any other accessory on the vehicle.

Are Cyclone whips flexible?

Yes. Cyclones use a slimmer flexible tube designed to handle movement and impacts during normal off-road use. Big Woody whips are different: their large 2-inch tube is rigid, which is one reason we recommend choosing the style that best matches where and how you ride.

What does the Woody's Lights lifetime warranty cover?

Our LED whips are backed by our no-hassle lifetime warranty, subject to the warranty terms. The goal is simple: if you have a problem, contact us and we'll work with you instead of making the process difficult.

Contact us. Sometimes the problem is the whip, but it can also be a controller, connection or wiring issue. We can help troubleshoot the system and figure out the next step.

Are Woody's Lights LED whips made in the USA?

Our LED whips are built by us here in Texas. Like most electronics products, some individual components are sourced from outside the United States, but the whips themselves are assembled and built here. That also means the people helping you choose, install and troubleshoot them are the same people who know how they're put together.

Why should I buy from Woody's Lights instead of a cheaper LED whip?

There are plenty of inexpensive LED whips on the market, and we're not going to pretend price doesn't matter.
