What Length LED Whip Should I Buy?
One foot? Two foot? Three foot? Taller? There isn't one perfect answer for everyone. The right whip length depends on where you ride, how you transport and store your machine, and the look you're trying to achieve.
The Quick Answer
If you're not sure what to buy, I usually recommend 2-foot whips.
I consider 2-foot whips the one-size-fits-most option. They fit well on just about any side-by-side, they're usually short enough to fit in a garage or enclosed trailer, and they still provide plenty of visibility whether you're riding wooded trails or open areas like dunes.
There Isn't One "Right" Size
We have customers running everything from 1-foot to 6-foot whips on the same type of machine. A Polaris RZR can look great with a short set of whips, and it can look great with tall whips sticking well above the roofline.
The better question is: What works best for the way you actually ride?
Before choosing a length, think about:
- Do you ride tight wooded trails with low branches?
- Do you park your machine in a garage?
- Do you haul it in an enclosed trailer?
- Do you want a lower-profile look?
- Do you prefer the look of whips sticking well above the roof?
- Are maximum visibility and visual impact more important than clearance?

Why I Recommend 2-Foot Whips Most Often
If someone walks up to our booth and says, "I don't know what size I need — just tell me what you'd buy," I'm probably going to point them toward a 2-foot set.
They make the fewest compromises. They're short enough for most storage and transport situations, but they still produce plenty of light and visibility on wooded trails, dunes, and general night rides.
They also look proportional on just about everything from compact side-by-sides to larger machines.

If you don't have a specific reason to go taller or shorter, start with a 2-foot pair. They're the closest thing we have to a one-size-fits-all whip.
When Should I Choose 3-Foot Whips?
If you don't need to worry much about garage doors, enclosed trailers, or low branches, 3-foot whips are a great option.
The biggest difference is visual. They sit higher above the machine and give you a little more of that classic whip-light look.
I generally recommend 3-foot whips for riders who:
- Ride more open trails or dunes
- Prefer a taller, more noticeable setup
- Don't mind removing the whips when needed
- Don't have tight garage or trailer clearance
When Does 1 Foot Make Sense?
One-foot whips are perfect when clearance matters more than height. They're especially useful on machines that live in a garage, ride heavily wooded trails, or need a low-profile lighting setup.
Short doesn't mean invisible. A good 1-foot whip still produces plenty of light — it just keeps everything closer to the machine.
What About 4-Foot and Taller Whips?
Taller whips are all about presence and visibility.
If you ride open terrain and love seeing the whips extend well above the roofline, there's nothing wrong with going taller.
The tradeoff is simple: the taller the whip, the more you'll need to think about branches, trailers, garages, and transport.

Common Questions About Whip Length
Will 2-foot whips fit my RZR?
In most cases, yes. Two-foot whips work extremely well on RZRs and are one of our most versatile size recommendations.
Will 3-foot whips fit in my garage?
Sometimes. It depends on your machine height, mounting location, roof, and garage-door clearance. If clearance is tight, 2-foot whips are the safer choice.
Are taller whips brighter?
They can create more overall light and visibility because there's more illuminated whip above the machine, but taller isn't automatically better for every riding style.
Which length is best for wooded trails?
I generally recommend staying shorter in tight woods. One-foot and 2-foot whips are easier to live with around low branches.
Which length is best for dunes?
Two-foot whips still work very well, but riders who want more height and visibility often prefer 3-foot or taller whips in open riding areas.
Can I run one whip instead of two?
Yes. A single whip can work just fine. A pair gives you a more balanced look and additional visibility, but two aren't required just because that's the most common setup.
